Description
This course will examine :
• The background to play as an educational/instructional tool
• The benefits for all children of play but in particular those with severe learning difficulties and ASD
• Play activities that are adapted to meet the needs of the individual child and the special school sector
• Issues to remember when planning activities Learning outcomes
• How play can be the means by which a child with ASD can communicate and socially interact with his/her peers
• A range of activities to adopt and adapt to the particular needs of children with ASD irrespective of the learning environment
• How play can be part of a multi-sensory approach
