Sound Sleep is an education programme for children that raises awareness of the importance of sleep for health and wellbeing and helps individuals to adopt positive sleep habits into their daily routines. The one day 'train the trainer' course for teachers and other professionals working with children provides delegates with an introduction to the physiology of sleep and sleep disorders, an understanding of how to get a good night's sleep and an overview of sleep hygiene theory and putting it in to practice. Delegates are provided with an extensive set of resources including; background reading, lesson plans, power point presentations, handouts and questionnaires - providing everything you need to run sleep lessons across all year groups (separate Primary and Secondary versions available).

At the end of the course participants will have the skills and resources to deliver the following:

  • sleep lessons to young people.
  • training to other professionals, who work with secondary school pupils, to use the teaching resource manual.
  • sleep awareness talks to parents and professionals.

Please note that this is not an autism specific programme.
