With the current uncertainty surrounding Covid-19 and changes to how we work and educate our children and young people with autism, looking after our health and wellbeing is ever more important.  For caregivers, in particular, and their children with autism these changes to routine can be a very stressful time.

Middletown Centre for Autism had the opportunity last year to interview Dr Lenny Thornton a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who is also a parent of a son with Asperger’s syndrome.  Dr Thornton shared his knowledge and experience on strategies and support to help strengthen parents’ resilience against stress as well as providing some ideas of how educators can also best support parents of children with autism.  To read more please click here  Bulletin 28: Stress and Coping for Caregivers
