School holidays are in sight and while many young people enjoy a break from the school routine, it can create anxiety for autistic children and young people. Check the Centre’s page tomorrow for a Christmas version of the popular Bored Board.

It is important to maintain a daily routine during holiday times and to continue using your child’s visual schedule or timetable. This reduces anxiety by making the day predictable and visually clear.  The Centre’s Christmas themed schedule will suit those who follow a written schedule or checklist.

For children who use symbols, you could create a schedule using some of the symbols shared on the Centre’s page on Tuesday 8 December.

Remember to include some of the structured Christmas activities the Centre has been sharing with you!
