Research tells us that being proficient at general life skills is closely linked to wellbeing and life satisfaction as our young people grow into adulthood. When we think of kitchen skills, we may often consider cooking, cleaning and washing dishes; however, there are a range of tasks that are equally important to promote independent living.

This link examples 17 stand alone kitchen skills that you can easily practice at home. It is recommended that you work on only one or two skills at a time, and that you provide visual structure to help clarify the task sequence or task requirements.
