Learning to understand and live with the Covid-19 guidelines has required adaptation on everyone’s part however, for autistic children and young people adapting may be significantly more difficult.
Visual supports are a concrete and clear form of communication that can provide clarity on expectations and help to reduce anxiety by creating a more predictable environment. T
his first link focuses on explicitly teaching the new rules in the school setting using a structured format.
The second link uses a social narrative to help prepare the learner for when others may not follow the rules and may help with the autistic individual's capacity to cope in these situations.
