Later this week, the Centre will post information on how interoception can affect appetite and eating.

Kelly Mahler’s book “Interoception: The Eighth Sensory System’ explains this relationship in more detail.  Kelly Mahler was interviewed for the Centre’s 26th Research Bulletin, which focused on Sensory Processing.  You can read the interview at this link and additionally, the first review also ties in to our theme this month as it summarises a paper by Shmaya et al (2017) entitled  ‘Meal Time Behaviour Difficulties but not Nutritional Deficiencies Correlate with Sensory Processing in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder’.
