When a child or young person only eats a very restricted number of food items, and avoids trying new foods, it can be tempting to try to persuade them or to offer rewards. 

This can, however, create anxiety and then further increase rigidity and avoidance.  These ‘Top Tips’ emphasise the importance of reducing the stress around mealtimes and introducing food in a way which does not place pressure on the child or young person to eat items with which they are not yet familiar.
