Many autistic people have a strong visual sense, noticing small details in their surrounding environment.

This can be a useful strength in some activities, but can create overload and stress in visually stimulating environments.  The Centre is often asked about colours and layouts when setting up classrooms.  This document provides valuable information about how to use colour and environmental design in classrooms to reduce overload and associated anxiety.  There is also a section on bedrooms, which many parents may find useful.
