Everyone knows the importance of protecting our skin in the sun, but applying cream creates extreme discomfort and stress for those with sensitivities to touch and/or smell. Creating predictability around this can reduce some anxieties, and so this visual support clarifies how much cream will be used and where it will be applied. Allowing a child to apply their own cream, with supervision, will also give them control and predictability in the task. Remember to explore all alternatives as some options may easier to tolerate, such as spray, aerosol or roll on.
