It is important that parents and carers give themselves time for their own mental wellbeing.

This not only protects their own health, but also enables them to offer more support for their children and young people.  The Centre’s 28th Research Bulletin focused on this topic. The opening interview with Dr Lenny Thornton recognises the specific stress experienced by parents of autistic children and identifies strategies and supports which can improve emotional resilience and wellbeing.
